It’s that time of year again. Halloween candy, Thanksgiving feasts and December family gatherings, all filled with good cheer, party beverages and lots of foods that can wreak havoc on your oral health!

Foods high in sugar content can cause tooth decay, gingivitis and bad breath if left on the teeth, tongue or gums for a lengthty period of time.

Alcohol can cause dry mouth and bad breath, but in excess, can decrease the immune system, directly affecting the health of your gums as well as your overall health.

Spicy foods can have some nutritional benefits, but you should remember to brush after eating spiced foods as they can cause bad breath.

The vast majority of people over indulge during the holidays. It’s simply part of the holiday tradition.

Be mindful of what you are eating and try to moderate the consumption of sugary foods and alcoholic beverages.
